This photography workshop will give you an advanced look at composition and seeing light. Once you feel comfortable with the Exposure Triangle and getting good exposures with your camera, the next big step is composition and using existing light to your advantage. When you really think about it, getting good photos is mostly about practicing good composition and harnessing the light. Learning composition is the most important thing you can do to make photos with the wow factor. Knowing the rules and when to break them
We will start in the classroom where professional photographer Loren Fisher will share photos showing thoughtful composition and the use of light. Loren will go beyond the basics and discuss how he makes photographic decisions, thinking about how the light affects the scene. He will show series of photos showing his thought process and how he arrived at a final image.
Loren will instruct you in the classroom but more importantly in the field. You will learn how working the light can turn an ordinary photo into extraordinary. Loren will have exercises for you that make you think about what you are shooting and why. He will show you how to use compositional elements to improve all your photos. We will go to a nearby park in Bridgewater, NJ, where you will be challenged by Loren to look at scenes and concentrate on how the light works and what compositional tools you are employing. When we are done, Loren will have a handout for you with more exercises you can do at home to improve your composition.
