Novice Photography Training Series – In Person or Live Online

Event Details

  • From: March 5, 2018
  • To: April 2, 2018
  • Starting at: 07:00 PM
  • Finishing at: 09:00 PM

There are some essential skills that you must master before you will get consistently good photographs every time you go out to shoot. In this series, I will help you create a strong foundation from which you’ll be able to get the shots you want and you’ll enjoy making pictures even more. I will help you understand all the elements of your camera, what you can control on your camera, which settings you should use and which ones are just there creating confusion.

You have the option of attending in person or live online. The series will be three two-hour sessions so you don’t get overwhelmed with too much info at once. You’ll be given fun, easy exercises to do between sessions that will help you practice what we talk about. The sessions are two weeks apart so you have plenty of time to practice and see what doesn’t make sense. We’ll take it one step at a time and make sure you understand what you are doing before moving on.

Some topics we’ll cover:

  • How to set up your camera (yes, there specific settings you want to change to make your camera perform better)
  • Photography terminology
  • Properly holding the camera
  • The exposure triangle: ISO, shutter speed and aperture
  • Understanding the light meter settings
  • File size settings
  • Wide angle, normal and telephoto lenses
  • How to focus and which focus setting to use
  • Basics of composition

This is a fun, light-hearted seminar filled with personal attention, even if you attend online. Dust off your camera, dig out your user manual and get ready to enjoy a new level of fun with photography!

It is recommended that you have a digital camera that allows you to change the exposure settings. Camera phones are not recommended since you don’t have control over the settings.

Sign up now so you can fully understand how your camera works and why your pictures don’t always turn out the way you want.

The series will be in Somerville, NJ, at my Photo Education Center. If you are attending online, you will be given detailed instructions on how to join the series via your computer or mobile device.

Sessions will be recorded so if you miss one, you can watch it later online. But, of course, you won’t be able to ask questions or get feedback.

The dates:
March 5

March 19
April 2

Sessions are from 7-9 p.m.
