CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHS
The Somerset Photography Meetup Group is having our sixth annual group photo exhibit at the Adult Day Center of Somerset County in Bridgewater. The exhibit will open March 31, 2020 and will hang through June 30. The application deadline is March 1, 2020.
This show is for all levels of photographers to show their best photos in a public exhibit that will kick off with an opening reception March 31 which will include a guest speaker.
Photographers may submit up to three photos for possible inclusion in the show. A jury will cull the photos and select up to 40 for the show. Notices will be sent to everyone on March 3 letting you know whether your images were selected. You then have until March 27 to have a print made, matted, framed and delivered to the Adult Day Center. You can also drop off your photos at LorenPhotos Gallery in Bedminster.
All prints should be at least 8”X10” and frames should be at least 16”X20” and no larger than 36” on the longest side. Frames can be metal or wood and must include a wire for hanging. Improperly framed photos and photos without wires will not be hung. Loren Fisher can provide tips and suggestions on where to get photos framed or how to do it yourself. If you are unsure how to frame your photo, talk to Loren before you get the print made. If you want to display a metal print, it doesn’t need a frame but must have a wire for hanging.
The photographer’s name, hometown, photo title and asking selling price will be displayed adjacent to each photo. If the photo sells, you are responsible for collecting the money and the print will be available to the buyer at the end of the show. We (not the Adult Day Center) ask that you donate at least 20% of sales to the Center.
There is no theme for the show, but no nudes or inappropriate photos will be included.
The Adult Day Center of Somerset County is a non-profit agency that cares for adults during the day, benefitting both the elderly and their caregivers. They have a beautiful facility on East Main St. in Bridgewater next to the Somerset Patriots baseball stadium. They designed their hallways with art exhibits in mind that are viewed by clients and the public.
The utmost care will be taken with your photograph and frame, but the Adult Day Center of Somerset County nor the Somerset Photography Meetup Group are responsible for any damage to your photo or frame before, during or after the exhibit.
Jury fee of $25.00. A jury fee is an entry fee. All proceeds will go directly to the Adult Day Center (this fee is not something required by the Adult Day Center, it is our way to help them raise a little money). For each fee of $25, members may submit up to three photos. Membership in the Meetup Group is free. After submitting the jury fee, you will be given information directing you where to send your photo entry.
Photos are submitted digitally, files should be .jpg and at least 1024 pixels on the longest side and 72 dpi. Larger is fine, as long as they are .jpg. These photos are only for the jurying process, you are responsible for having a print made suitable for exhibition.
Each image should be renamed using your name and entry number. Example: JohnSmith1.jpg, JohnSmith2.jpg. Within the text of the email, you should include: Your name, email address and the photo information–the name of the photo and the framed size of the print. Example: John Smith. Johnsmith@johnny.com.
