October 7-11, 2024

Ducky's Pond

A fall foliage photography workshop and tour in Vermont’s back roads with a professional photographer who knows the best locations should be on every photographer’s bucket list. The stunning fall foliage is a visual feast for photographers and professional photographer Loren Fisher will take you on a classic Vermont experience designed to improve your photography skills while photographing the beauty of Autumn in New England.

A resident of Woodstock, VT, Loren will take you on an exciting Vermont photo experience in one of the most breathtaking fall foliage destinations in New England.

Local transportation during the workshop is hopefully included in Loren’s Sprinter 12 passenger van.

Toward Camel's Hump

Loren will give you personal attention and show you how to take your photography to a higher level, whether you are a beginner or experienced photographer. We will meet for classroom instruction in Loren’s Woodstock gallery and then spend most of the time shooting in the field at unique locations. A highlight is photographing a colorful island while Loren light paints it with a large flashlight. Loren will help you set up your camera and tell you the exposures as the darkness rolls in. It is a stunning, unique photo opportunity.

You will visit and photograph beautiful farms, a classic Vermont village and a private 600 acre homestead with ponds, flora and an amazing mountain-top view. We will photograph covered bridges, breathtaking scenery, lakes, waterfalls and enjoy true small-town hospitality.

Loren will share with you his thought process, how he plans a shot and how he edits. The schedule will be flexible so we will shoot in the best locations at the right times.

Where:

Based in Woodstock, Vt., a classic New England town.

About Woodstock, VT:

Woodstock, Vermont, population 3,000, was the winner of a 1997 national contest conducted by the Ladies Home Journal magazine as the “Prettiest Town in America.”

It is home to Marsh-Billings National Park, the only working farm National Park and has three covered bridges. It is a visual town, with visitors coming by the busload to snap pictures. The village and the surrounding countryside will provide us with many unique photo opportunities. Download Woodstock’s Visitor’s guide.
From Frommer’s: For more than a century, the resort community of Woodstock has been considered one of New England’s most exquisite villages, and its attractiveness has benefited from the largesse of some of the country’s most affluent citizens. Even the surrounding countryside is, by and large, unsullied — it’s pretty difficult to drive to Woodstock via any route that isn’t pastoral and scenic, and by the time you’re here you’re already feeling as if you’re back in some other, slower-paced era. Few New England villages can top Woodstock for sheer grace and elegance; its tidy downtown is compact and neat, populated by galleries and boutiques. The lovely village green is surrounded by handsome homes, creating what amounts to a comprehensive review of architectural styles of the 19th and early 20th centuries, and you could literally throw a stone (but don’t) from the town center and hit a fine covered bridge. Lodging:

Fall foliage season is an extremely busy time in Woodstock and rooms fill fast, so I’m not able to block any rooms, so please make your reservations right away. Woodstock is home to many B&Bs, motels and the large, but more expensive, Woodstock Inn. I can help suggest places to stay.

Meals:

Each day we’ll grab a quick breakfast on the road and try to stop at one of the fun local country stores for lunch. On the night we light up the island, we’ll get sandwiches and have a picnic beside a relaxing pond. Please let me know if you have any special food considerations.
